He spoke about the different avenues one can take to become a sponsored student athlete, including obtaining a sporting or an academic scholarship. We were also informed about the basic structure of student athletics at American universities as decided by the major governing bodies for college sports, the NCAA and the NAIA. This included telling us about the different league divisions, depending which college you attend and basic differences between Ivy League and non-Ivy League student athletes.  "Our experience of working with Rob Thomas from Sporting Elite was excellent. Jonno has always been talented at sport and wanted to travel abroad. He was first approached by an agent in London who we didn't know and the opportunity they were offering seemed unfamiliar and therefore risky. However Rob Thomas from Sporting Elite visited Jonnos school. He explained the process and how he would support us through it, then it began to seem a more realistic and reasonable option. The process takes time and can be complex but with Robs help we negotiated Jonnos first choice of university, degree course and sports. Jonno says it is the best experience he has ever had. He loves his university life . The learning style and positive teaching methods suit him and he is surrounded by other sports focused students enjoying the same healthy lifestyle. He has found the staff and coaches extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. He says the culture is very different in a positive way and the opportunities are huge. We are delighted with the outcome and may not have had the confidence to complete the somewhat arduous application process with out the direction of Sporting Elite. I would highly recommend their services to anyone considering obtaining an education through the American University system. There is rather a lot of red tape and negotiating but the path is made smoother by the experience and advice from Sporting Elite.
